Our History

Epicentre’s journey spans over four decades, marked by innovation, growth, and a commitment to quality. From our beginnings in Gympie to our industry leadership today, we’ve continually evolved to meet the needs of our customers.

1981 Established Centrelink p/l in Gympie QLD

Imported one style in 5 colours of a 3 panel cap with elastic back and cardboard peak.

Stock was held under the family home

1982 Headwear range was primarily retail

Focused to capitalise on the ‘Slip, Slop, Slap’ campaign

1983 Moved to Brisbane to live

Moved stock to Brisbane in shared warehouse at breakfast creek

Looking to expand into the corporate promotional market

Together with a screenprinter developed a way to screenprint one colour onto the front of a cap

Introduced trucker cap in 5 colours

1984 Leased warehouse

Leased 300sqm warehouse in Container Street, Tingalpa and employed 2 x staff

1985 Employed one extra staff

1987 Introduced school hats

Slouch & Legionnaire

1987 ‘Legend’ brand was created

1988 Introduced fluro range of headwear & other styles

1989 Moved warehouse to Lytton Road

1990 Developed a sports bag

Developed a sportsbag and stocked in 4 colours – small run screen print service

1991 NSW office

Opened an office and warehouse in NSW

1994 Moved warehouse

Moved warehouse across the river to Links Ave, Eagle Farm

1995 Federal government created the Centrelink program causing confusion

After getting many phone calls from frustrated people enquiring about pensions and social security payments we rebranded to Epicentre.

1999 Introduced jacket range

Introduced jacket range under the Great Southern Clothing Co. label

2000 Custom built warehouse

Custom built 5,000sqm warehouse & offices in Murarrie

2001 First website built and launched

2014 Stormtech Launched

2016 Supacolour launched

2016 Launch of locally sublimated beach towels

2017 Next Level Apparel launched

2018 Expansion of decoration offer with intro of Supasub and Supaetch patches

2019 Atlantis and Swissdigital Design launched

2021 Became Australian supplier of James Harvest brands

2018 ‘Legend Black’ brand created for our premium range of products

2024 Opened VIC warehouse and showroom

2025 New apparel and brand showroom opened at head office

2026 Decoration production facility opened in Murarrie, Brisbane
